IDEA Lab Team
The IDEAlab includes students and scientists based at East Carolina University, and at our molecular lab called "Mahaliana Labs"in Madagascar.
We are working together to determine how recent human-induced changes are reshaping the landscape of diseases and facilitating the movement of pathogens.

Fidisoa Rasambainarivo
I am an assistant professor in Biology at East Carolina University and the co-founder of Mahaliana Labs in Madagascar.

Kayla Evans
Kayla is a PhD candidate at ECU where she explores the ecology and epidemiology of hemoparasites including Plasmodium (parasite causing malaria) and Babesia in wild lemurs of Madagascar.

Laura Howard
Laura is a PhD student focusing on the complex interactions between domestic and wild carnivores in Madagascar. Her research aims to uncover how these species coexist and the impact of their relationships on the ecosystem.

Gabe Adkins
Gabe is an undergraduate student in the lab. Gabe is involved in a number of project including determining the genetic diversity of threatened carnivores and quantifying the amount of Plasmodium parasites in lemurs.
